Scientists at the European Society of Cardiology identified two key ingredients, during a study: Dark chocolate and high quality extra virgin olive oil—as having a powerful effect on the heart health of volunteer subjects, suffering from some form of cardiovascular risk, such as smoking, hypertension, or family history.
This combination was proven to be also behind a significant increase in good cholesterol and decrease in blood pressure.
“Our study suggests that extra virgin olive oil might be a good food additive to help preserve our ‘repairing cells’, the EPC.” (Dr. DiStefano) .
